This year Shanghai Hongrun Boyuan School will join hands with WABC to actively respond to this call and carry out various interesting public welfare activities related to this Mixed-Matched Socks activity. As the first integrated lesson for young people it is recommended that all teachers and students should take care of the special people with mental illness and their families accept their differences and practice the concept of equality acceptance and tolerance.

Join this Mix-Matched socks event and take the initiative to help! I hope that all students and teachers will actively participate

There are a group of people in this world that are suffering from autism. These people have difficulties communicating with others. They only have a narrow range of interests and display various stereotypical and repetitive behaviors. They are given a pleasant name "Children of Stars". They don't like to talk but only murmur by themselves. They often forget things and sometimes wear two different socks to go out. We often deem them "strange" yet everyone has another side. In fact anyone might "wear the wrong socks". Wearing wrong socks like many behaviors commonly regarded as "strange" should not be frowned upon with prejudice. In real life in the face of these children some people choose to tolerate them while others alienate and even discriminate against them.

Mix-Matched Socks Day was initiated by WABC Arts Foundation in 2016. It encourages the public to express their tolerance and acceptance of people with mental disorders such as autism cerebral palsy and Down syndrome as well as their families through "wearing mix-matched socks" on December 23rd each year arousing more public empathy and striving to create a pluralistic integrated and friendly society. Since its inception more than 10 countries and 10 regions have taken part in the " Mix-Matched socks day". Related topics have received a total of 140 million readings online and the ideas of public welfare have influenced tens of millions of people.
